SULFUR Game Guide

Quick Answer

Choose Chain Lightning for spreading damage, Aftershock for group stuns, or Least Resistance for homing after piercing or bouncing. Chain Lightning and Aftershock suit high-RPM or multi-projectile weapons. Least Resistance's homing does not always work, so you should not treat it as a guaranteed effect.

Which scroll should you choose for your weapon?

Match your scroll to your weapon's hit frequency and the effect you need.

Your weapon or goalRecommended scroll and tradeoff
Moderate- or low-damage weapons with high RPMChain Lightning adds damage and spreads electrocution; its base trigger chance is 35%.
Weapons firing many projectilesChain Lightning spreads damage, while Aftershock trades a lower trigger chance for an area stun.
High-RPM weapons built for crowd controlAftershock can stun nearby enemies for five seconds; each trigger is still chance-based.
Weapons with bounces or penetrationAftershock gains more opportunities to stun groups; Least Resistance offers homing that can persist afterward.
A homing-focused setupLeast Resistance is a strong option, but its homing does not always behave reliably.

These recommendations serve different jobs rather than a universal ranking. Start with your weapon's behavior, then choose between damage, control, and homing.

When should you choose Chain Lightning?

Choose Chain Lightning when you want nearby enemies damaged and interrupted while you focus on a priority target.

Its base trigger chance is 35%. A successful trigger electrocutes the target and can spread the effect to nearby enemies. Electrocution interrupts an enemy's current attack or action.

This makes Chain Lightning useful when you need to keep shooting one dangerous enemy within a group. You can concentrate your fire while the spreading effect damages and delays surrounding threats.

Moderate- or low-damage weapons with high RPM suit this effect. Weapons firing multiple projectiles also provide more opportunities to trigger it. Bounces, penetration, and spread can help you land hits across a group.

The tradeoff is that you are relying on a chance-based effect. A 35% base chance does not make every shot an electrocution. Extra damage also does not make unlimited weapon-damage reductions harmless.

Chain Lightning can support damage-reducing oils, but reducing your weapon's damage too far remains detrimental.

When should you choose Aftershock?

Choose Aftershock when stopping a group matters more to you than spreading extra damage.

Aftershock has a 10% trigger chance and can stun nearby enemies for five seconds. It can trigger from impacts near enemies, without requiring a direct enemy hit.

Use high RPM, multiple projectiles, or both to create more trigger opportunities. Bounces and penetration can also increase your opportunities to stun a group. You are building around repeated chances to produce one useful area stun.

The stun takes effect without a buildup period or an enemy-health threshold. One trigger can disable several nearby enemies at once.

Its main drawback is the relatively low trigger chance. You should distinguish the strength of a successful stun from how often your weapon can trigger one.

When should you choose Least Resistance?

Choose Least Resistance when you want homing that can continue after piercing or bouncing.

It is a strong scroll option for that behavior, but the homing does not always work. Treat the continuing homing effect as a benefit with an acknowledged reliability limit.

The Least Resistance recommendation at 4:28 discusses that benefit and its inconsistency.
